Can I clarify one point? The hippie piece written by C.I. of The Common Ills? C.I.’s the same woman who did the NPR transcription. C.I. does a “Iraq snapshot” Monday through Friday. Rebecca Winters is C.I.’s friend going back to college and Rebecca posts C.I.’s snapshot every day, she tacks it on to her post which is why Rebecca writes, “Let’s close with C.I.’s ‘Iraq Snapshot’.”
And with Ava, C.I. co-wrote a piece at Third Estate Sunday Review on McFate and Sarah Sewall’s appearance on Charlie Rose:

If I can add one more thing, today Congress had a hearing on counter-insurgency. The chair of the committee called Americans “paranoid” and it was discussed how that pesky Smith-Mundt Act keeps getting in the way of ‘freedom.’ C.I. was at the hearing and reports on it in today’s Iraq snapshot
