Turning and turning in the widening gyre | The falcon cannot hear the falconer | Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold | Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world | The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere | The ceremony of innocence is drowned | The best lack all conviction, while the worst | Are full of passionate intensity. -- W.B. Yeats, The Second Coming

Thanks for your comments. Native American Advocate, I will keep an eye out for any information from UCB that might give this a different twist -- but it's not the first time in very recent times that Native Americans and UCB have collided. Whits, thanks for the humour, even if unintended.

What I don't get is if the grove is part of a recognized National Historic Site, why would UCB risk the lawsuit that could follow? Or is this not quite true? Seems like UCB is either thumbing their nose at the law - both in terms of NAGPRA and NHPA - and asking for some major repercussions, or we are not getting the entire story. Either way, I think it is a disgrace and they are damaging their reputation.
