Turning and turning in the widening gyre | The falcon cannot hear the falconer | Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold | Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world | The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere | The ceremony of innocence is drowned | The best lack all conviction, while the worst | Are full of passionate intensity. -- W.B.
The US Court System is no longer a reliable place for justice. Imagine it. M. Jackson rules the media roost whilst academia gets crushed and more US troops get blown away.

There is a fine book titled After America. In that book the author has a quote from an American working in Dubai. He says Americans are silly to think that the "good life" can only be led in a democracy. The American goes on to say that he knows he lives in a benign dictatorship where communications are tapped and one is guilty 'til proven innocent. But, as he says, crime is low, his kids can walk to school, the family can worship at a Christian church, and he can quietly party when he pleases without fear of retribution.

I'm convinced that this is the type of government America is building now with the permission of its people. It is exactly of the type described in the novel WE, which was Orwell's inspiration for 1984.
